I've broken up Lizard Island into 2 blogs, see part 1 for the Research Station. The walk up to the top of the Cook's Lookout got the heart pumping and the views along the way were amazing. The crystal clear water made snorkelling the reef full of excitement with the giant clams and the bright colours of the tropical fish. Unfortunately, our time ended short as the national parks were doing the annual burn off. We will definitely be back again! Th...

Arriving at Lizard Island, we were blown away by the colour of the water; it is a brilliant turquoise colour. There's no wonder there were so many other boats when we anchored. We arrived just in time to head off across the island to the Research Station and Laboratory. Marlene and Paul of Thirsty Dog arranged a private tour; luckily we were able to tag along. One of the Directors Lyle Vail gave us a detailed explanation of the history of the res...

It was perfect sailing as we headed into Cooktown. Cooktown is the final stop for Tess, Greta, and Lauren. It's been an absolute ball having them on board for 10 days and to be able to share our adventure with them. If any of our friends, family or co-workers would like to come onboard just let us know, you just need to work out how to reach us – good luck!! We saw our first croc on this voyage, which was a big tick for Lauren and Greta. We also ...

Continuing on our Lap of Australia on Paradise – Hope Island is a little gem. Such a lovely place to relax and enjoy the water and sunset. There are loads of pelicans on the island, and I can see why all those little fish in the sea. The weather on our second day wasn't so great, so we ended up cooking, eating, and drinking. It was pie day for lunch, and sangria, Mexican and Abba party for dinner. Watch the part of the video where the conch turne...

Paradise - Low Isles

The activity in the water at Low Isles was terrific. If the batfish could walk out of the water, I'm sure that they would have. The reef sharks didn't stop us from getting in and seeing what was under the water. This was our best location so far for snorkeling. Low Isles is very close to Port Douglas so definitely worth a trip if you go to Port Douglas, even if the weather is wet and cold. I couldn't get enough of those fish, and they couldn't ge...
