Bowen is a little gem, everything is perfectly maintained and clean (except for the maggots in the council bin, eww!) and it's a real tidy town. The rock formations at Horseshoe Bay remind me of the Greece Island, it's just missing the Taverna on the beach. I can see why there are so many grey nomads here, what a perfect place to stay. Snorkeling at the coral reef at Butterfly Bay was spectacular, although I forgot to get a copy of Nat's Go Pro before she left - that footage will need to come later. Heading to Mackay for a 10-day stay at the marina (there's some work to get done on the boat). The sail there was just perfect, we sailed with the main and genoa most of the way. It was fascinating seeing all the ships lined up waiting to offload the coal. We were treated to some local hospitality by Darren, Anthony, Shep and the gang. Needless to say, we drank a lot - no warm beer was allowed for John!!

If you ever get a chance to sail to Middle Percy Island, you will find this delightful place and amazing woman Cate and her husband John, who are the lessees. Only 5-6 people are residing on this island and John, and Cate both live in the homestead which is in the middle of the island. We weren't planning on coming here, but when we told Peter from "Norman" that w...
