12th May is Mothers Day and our wedding anniversary. John and I have been married for 29 years, geez!! I missed being with our children, my mum and aunty and John's mum on Mothers Day. As a special treat we took the fly drive option with Air Fraser, that way we could see the beautiful freshwater lakes from above. The plane ride was fun and landing on the beach with cars driving next to us and the surf under us was a first. The wea...

Looking back, we should have stayed an extra night at Double Island Point which is next to Rainbow Beach and skipped Tin Can Bay. It really is an idyllic spot and so serene.  The Wide Bay Bar crossing was not as bad it looked from a distance. It's best to cross it at some speed rather than just wallowing in the water.

The sea was glorious today for our trip to Mooloolaba, we even got to use the sail - although it was for only a short time. Crossing the bar was a non-event which is fine. The waters are so shallow around the canals, seems very strange to see keels out of the water. The dinner at yacht club was delicious and we got to meet Jonathan's and sailing friends.

Another glorious day on the water. John cast the fishing line and easily caught a Spanish Mackerel. With a lifetime of experience fishing with his dad Spiro, John quickly filleted the fish and it will feed 4 of us for 3 meals. Double Island Point is next to Rainbow Beach and it is one of the nicest places that I have been to. It's secluded, with crystal clear water and a long beach. Great for swimming and to chill out. Will definitely go back the...

After spending 3 weeks at dry dock at Gold Coast Marina doing the annual haul out, we are on our way again. Heading to Moreton Bay Island, the conditions were great although no sailing.  Power lines are always daunting given that our mast reaches 28 m. The water was beautiful and calm on arrival at Moreton Bay and it looked like an idyllic place to swim in the morning. The wind blew up overnight making it a rocky night for sleeping and the ...
